I got to the hotel after midnight, tired from a full day of travel, and hadn’t made a reservation. It was nearly one in the morning, but Heidi and her trainee John still found me a room for that night and the next couple of days. I’d come to the area after learning a week earlier that my dearly loved uncle had passed away. Being able to stay at the same hotel as my other loved ones became crucial as we supported the family he left behind, including his wife and children. Heidi and John were patient, professional, caring, and understanding. Their help that night made a real difference for me and my loved ones, and I won’t stay anywhere else when I visit the area. To the owner and operator of the Hampton Inn & Suites Philadelphia Montgomeryville, excellent job finding these two stellar people. Heidi and John, thank you so much.
The rooms are enormous, the hotel is lovely, and check-in was seamless. The area is quiet, with good restaurants nearby, and Wegman’s supermarket and Montgomery mall are about a 10-15 minute walk away. Breakfast is limited, but it was enough for me. Water is provided only on request, though there’s a fountain behind the breakfast area. My main disappointment was housekeeping. I stayed three nights and never had my room made, even though the hotel’s written information said rooms would be cleaned every other day. That’s why I’d rate it 3.5 out of 5 instead of a clear 5.
There are plenty of food options nearby if you want something beyond breakfast. I stay here with my family whenever I’m in town, and the hotel is always great. The staff are consistently great too, the rooms very clean, and breakfast is always good.
I was charged a $250 fee on my credit card for allegedly violating the hotel’s “no smoking” policy. When I asked about it, the manager said unnamed cleaning staff had reported a “harsh smell” after checkout, and wouldn’t give me anything more specific to back up the claim. Neither of us smoked in the room, and no one raised an issue during our two-night stay. The charge came three days after we got home, five hours away. We left the room fairly clean, gathered our garbage in bags, and even left a generous tip for housekeeping. I regret that tip now. This sort of charge seems to be becoming more common at franchised hotels, especially independently owned ones like this. You can find horror stories online or talk to a consumer fraud attorney. A guest has very little recourse, especially from out of state, since the amount is just small enough to make small claims court inconvenient. I’ll probably have to eat the fee. If you’re visiting a friend in Buck County for a beer and cigar while staying here, change your clothes before returning to your room. Traveler, beware of outfits like this. In response to the owner’s comments: What evidence, exactly? All you told me was that cleaning staff reported a smell. If anyone smoked in that room during our two-night stay, it wasn’t us. Your website says there’s a dedicated smoking area on the premises. If a guest smokes there, are they expected to change clothes before going back to their room? You may not realize how ridiculous and untrustworthy that sounds, but others will. You deserve prison time for fraud!
One of the cleanest hotels I’ve stayed in. The staff were warm and friendly, and I’d definitely stay again. Highly recommend.
