Breakfast was a highlight, especially the blueberry pancakes. They were the best I’ve had. The shared spaces are roomy and comfortable, with a good selection of games, and the rooms are clean and cozy. Our room, the RI room, had a low ceiling, but it was still comfortable. The location is handy for local shops and attractions. I’ll make this my first choice next time I visit.

The hosts made us feel at home, and the room was clean, comfortable, and just the right size. Mine had a full-size bed and a nice little bathroom. I called at the last minute looking for a room that night and was lucky they had one. For the price, this was one of the best places I’ve stayed in the White Mountains. Breakfast came with a choice of a freshly made muffin, coffee or tea, and a small bowl of fresh fruit if you wanted one. Then you could pick pancakes, waffles, or crepes, with different fruits and other toppings available on a rotating basis. Downstairs, there’s a shared living room with couches, a gas fireplace, games, coffee, hot chocolate, and hiking books for ideas. I’d definitely recommend staying here in the White Mountains.

The next morning’s breakfast was lovely, and the location made it easy to get to the Flume, Loon, and Cog Railway. We arrived late in the day on 9/14, found our key and notes about arrival and breakfast times on the desk, then dropped our bags in room 7 on the B&B’s first floor. After a long day of driving, walking into town was just what we needed. We had dinner outside, wandered through some local shops, then sat on the rocks by the river to watch the sunset. A perfect first day.

The food was delicious and kept us going through long days of exploring. Each morning we could choose eggs or pancakes made our way, or crepes. Breakfast came with coffee, juice, muffins for two, and a big bowl of fresh fruit. The portions were just right, and most days we didn’t need lunch. They even put a birthday candle in my pancakes. Our room was spotless and the bed was comfortable. Even with other guests around, it was peaceful and quiet, quieter than most hotels I’ve stayed in. We spent three nights in early May. It was chilly outside, but the fireplace and the owners’ hospitality made the stay feel warm and welcoming. The owners were wonderful, friendly and easy to talk to, with great suggestions for things to do nearby. The inn is lovely inside and out, and you can see the care they put into it, from the fresh gardens to the mats for muddy hiking boots in the foyer. This was one of my most relaxing and pleasant vacations in a while.

We had another relaxing weekend at the Wilderness Inn, this time in the Alaska room. It has a four-poster bed, a separate room with bunk beds for the kids, and an enclosed porch. There’s also a propane fireplace for chilly evenings and a large tub to soak in.
