As another B&B owner, I can see how much care and heart have gone into this place. It comes across online and in the reviews that hosting here is a real passion, not just a business. The setting is peaceful and charming, tucked into the bluffs like a cozy escape, while still being close to everything in Northfield.

The road right in front is busy, so that affected the location rating, though the grounds around the Inn were gorgeous. We loved all the thoughtful touches, from the yard chickens and bee hive to the sweet cottage-like inn, comfortable beds and magnificent breakfast. We bought handmade soap and honey, too. The hosts were friendly and gracious, and gave us room to ourselves. It was perfect, and we’ll definitely be back.

We had to keep changing our schedule, and the hosts were flexible and accommodating. This remodeled cottage will be our home base for future Northfield visits. The suite was charming and comfortable, with plenty of places to sit across the suite, the fireplace parlour and screened porch. We spent much of our free time reading on the porch and watching birds in the woods and at the feeders. Breakfasts and the little cookies each night were fabulous.

Lovely couple, beautiful B & B, and beautiful surroundings. Downtown Northfield is charming and fun. The breakfasts are incredible, and they leave bars or cookies in the room along with fresh water. Such a nice extra. If breakfast matters to you, go there.

Lisa and Steve are wonderful innkeepers who go out of their way to make each visit special. Steve’s a gifted chef, and the breakfasts are divine. The rooms are cozy, comfortable and well appointed, with all of Lisa’s special touches. Contented Cottage B&B in Northfield, MN is the best place to stay.
