For a short stay, it was fine. I expected a low standard because it’s a budget place, but was pleasantly surprised by how clean it was and how nice it smelled. The room was comfortable, especially the bed, and the bathroom was clean. The concierge was nice and helped me get the TV working. The AC was really loud, and the remote location was the main drawback, but otherwise it was a decent stay.

The halls smell like pot and cigarette smoke, and the place is disgustingly dirty. I saw how bad it was four years ago when my daughter’s roommate, whose parents are from Peru, was staying there. I immediately moved her to the Wyndham. I can’t believe this hotel is still open. Parents sending college students from out of state or overseas for freshman year should not have their kids stay here. It’s unsafe, dirty and drug infested with transient people. It’s unfortunately the worst thing you could do if you can’t bring your student here and help them settle in for freshman year.

They left me without anywhere to go for the weekend after raising the price from $60-70 to $200. This place isn’t worth even $100, and the breakfast is lousy. I used to give them good reviews, but then their prices went up so much that it excluded me and others. To me, this is a 2 star hotel charging 4 star prices just to get rid of me. I’m not a bad guest, and I consider it age discrimination. I may make a Fair Housing complaint, and I urge others not to support them.

The hallways reeked of cigarette smoke. Walking just three doors between our rooms, I was trying to hold my breath. The beds were extremely hard, and after four nights on a camping mat I was arguably more comfortable there. Curtains blocked some light, but there were no extra shades, so the parking lot lights came through. I couldn’t wash an item in the sink: the stopper wouldn’t hold water, and there was palpable grime around the basin when I checked that our toothpaste was rinsed away. It looked like someone had given it a quick swipe instead of a proper scrub. We got one partial roll of toilet paper and no spare, and nearly ran out. The bathroom door hit the toilet before opening all the way. My kid also noticed the room door’s view hole was blocked, which could be a real safety concern for some people. We booked two rooms for five family members and were first put on different floors at opposite ends of the building, which seemed odd. One room was barely acceptable, so we sent the kids there. The other smelled so bad, and had major water damage along one side of the bathroom door, that I asked to move, something I almost never do. Just the few minutes in the room and hall gave me a headache. To their credit, staff found a closer replacement for us, a “suite” with a king bed and some newer cabinets in the bedroom area. The sitting area had old, dated cabinets with open holes where appliances used to be. The new room didn’t smell very much, so we decided we could live with it for one night. After seeing the “breakfast area” and dealing with the smell in the common spaces, we didn’t try breakfast, so I can’t comment on it. This was a 100% never again. Next time we won’t make the mistake of booking without reading reviews.

We’ve stayed here for a while and haven’t had any hiccups. The staff are terrific, and the place is quiet enough that we don’t hear the neighbors, usually not even the bowling alley next door. The hotel is a little dated, but that’s part of what we like about its cozy feel. WiFi is great, and I have no complaints.
