Residence Inn Novato Sonoma

The rotating continental breakfast is simple, with a little elegance to it. Rooms have full kitchens and are modern, fully stocked, and there’s lots of parking. The property sits in downtown Novato beside a Trader Joe's, with several other grocery and shopping centers within a mile and a half.

Everything at this Marriott property feels new and fresh, and the staff are very courteous. Trader Joes and Starbucks are close enough to walk to, as is downtown Novato. If you’re heading downtown late at night, though, I’d recommend driving rather than walking.

The staff made a big difference for us. Manager Jasmine and Matthew at the front desk found a room that suited our unusual needs and made our vacation. Everyone was helpful and friendly, and after staying mostly at Residence Inns for 20 years, this is our favorite by far. The pool area was the cleanest we’ve seen, with nice towels, warm water, and good music. After a night swim, the fire pit area was cozy, with comfortable lounges and mood lighting. The breakfast buffet was the biggest we’ve seen, always stocked, and had gluten-free options. There was lemon water in the lobby and plenty of luggage carts. Our one-bedroom room had two queens, a full-size fridge, and a well-stocked kitchen. It was beautifully decorated, with comfy beds, two large TVs, and plenty of drawer space. The large couch had a hide-a-bed and chaise, and there was a separate desk area with a comfortable office chair alongside the dining table. Outlets of every kind were everywhere. There’s no tub, which seems to be common in newer hotels, but the huge shower had good pressure, an adjustable shower head, and shelves. The vanity and mirror were outside the large bathroom, a nice touch. It was also a quick drive to SFO and many other areas. We’ll definitely be back.

Check-in was easy, and I got settled quickly for my one-night stay. The room was spacious, clean, and still felt open with its king-sized bed. I liked the bathroom and shower. I’d probably stay again if I’m back in the area.
