Homewood Suites by Hilton Novi Detroit

I spent seven nights at Homewood Suites in Novi for work. The room was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and professional, but this was only an okay stay for me. The property needs more consistent upkeep: there was dirt on walls and in corners, peeling wallpaper, and torn carpet, and the bathroom and shower were especially poor. The building doesn't feel particularly old, so the condition stood out. It wasn't what I expect from most Hilton properties. One day I was working in my room when a maintenance worker opened the door without knocking or announcing himself, carrying a crowbar. He apparently meant to fix a door issue I had never reported. He apologized as soon as he saw me, but the surprise entry felt like a serious lapse in privacy and security. On my last night, people ran and yelled in the hall for hours, from early evening until late at night. I later understood the hotel was hosting families connected to an elementary-level cheerleading competition. I called the front desk twice, but the noise was never fully dealt with. Kids will be kids, but guests still need some respect for quiet time, especially in a hotel serving business travelers. Better noise enforcement, clearer communication about room access, and more attention to upkeep would have helped. As a solo business traveler, I found it too busy for my needs and wouldn't stay here again.
