Sleep Inn O'Fallon near I-64

We stayed here three weeks in a row and it was generally a good place. But the last week gave me serious pause. While we were waiting to check in, police on the hotel grounds questioned and harassed my family, saying our car was a suspect in a kidnapping. We were blown away, and we probably won’t stay again.

The bathroom was the worst part. They advertise a jetted tub, but it was so disgusting that sitting in it, let alone turning on the jets, seemed like a good way to pick up internal hitchhikers and need antibiotics. The room was just as gross, with basic cleaning missed and sticky surfaces that shouldn’t have been sticky. A towel was bunched up outside our across-the-hall neighbor’s door when we arrived, and it was still there three days later when we checked out. I think that says a lot about why the room was filthy. The outside hallways smelled like animal waste, cigarette smoke, and general neglect. A tiny yappy dog also barked every morning from 6 am for hours, so I guess that was the free wake-up call. We don’t expect luxury at a Sleep Inn, but this was easily the worst one we’ve stayed at. Stay here at your own risk. Actually, don’t. Stay somewhere else. Sincerely, regretful in Illinois.

For the price, it was good. The bed was comfy, and there were no bugs or other issues that affected a good night’s sleep. The room was cleanish, though the electrical outlets were so worn it was hard to charge things. The laundry didn’t work.

The woman at the front desk was very friendly and offered me a full refund right away, which I accepted. She didn’t seem surprised at all. I was then left scrambling to find another hotel at the last minute. I’d booked what was probably the dirtiest Choice hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Room 122 hadn’t been vacuumed, the rug and walls had permanent marks, and there were crumbs in the drawers. I asked for a different room because of the cleanliness, and got room 128. It was at least as bad and smelled horrible. The hallway reeked of cigarette smoke, so I told the desk attendant I wasn’t comfortable staying there.
