Best Western Plus Oak Harbor Hotel & Conference Center

We stayed another night, and when I left for my appointment I forgot some things. I called afterward and was told they'd certainly been thrown away, which shocked me since it was only 1130am. I questioned that, hung up unhappy, and later got a call saying they had my belongings after all. When I went to collect them, the staff were extremely rude and talked down to me. I'd even left a 20$ tip for room cleaning, though checkout was the only cleaning and we got no extra towels or blankets. Ten days later, I saw an 88.08$ charge against my refundable pet deposit. My dog caused no damage, had no accidents, and created no extra work, so why charge me? The whole experience was really lousy. I checked into a pet-friendly room at 1145 pm, and had to go out to my car to book online for a discount that I never saw. I was too tired to care. The front desk was little help, and the clerk had me sign a stack of papers while summarizing them, including the pet deposit form. I paid a 100$ deposit, supposed to be refunded to my card 7-10 days after checkout. I always strip the beds and especially the white comforters, but there was blood or something on the mattress cover, so I put a blanket over it and slept in the second bed. The next day, I caught the maids entering my room even though the do not disturb sign was up while I was supposed to be out. Thank goodness I'd come back for my purse. I let them walk through under the 'guiese' of a sewer smell, though they commented on plenty of things besides that. I told them there was no smell in my room.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were nice. Great pillows, good towels, and fantastic shower pressure. Breakfast was decent, with really good waffles and toppings. Good location.

The hotel was clean and the housekeepers were nice. But Kim at the front desk was completely rude to me, my daughter, and my case manager. My daughter was out of school that day with a bad asthma attack, and Kim wouldn't let her back into our room while I was gone, not even to get her phone. She made my daughter cry, and she had to go to the gas station to call me.

The elevator felt scary, with loud thunks and surging stops. The room itself was pretty good, though the walls were thin enough that we could hear the hallway and the adjoining room. Thankfully, things quieted down by 11pm. Breakfast was among the lower quality ones we've had. There was no meat protein except "sausage" gravy that was more like soup, with maybe two tiny sausage pieces. The eggs were gritty and seemed powdered, or something was off. The only yogurt was a danon light and something; my wife tasted it and threw the rest away because of the bad fake-sugar aftertaste.
