Courtyard Chicago Oakbrook Terrace

I cancelled that same night and went to the Hyatt up the street. This was the worst travel experience I’ve ever had. The walls are paper thin, and the staff were unprofessional. When I asked for a refund, I was told I wouldn’t get one because housekeeping wasn’t there to clean the room for resale. How is that the guest’s responsibility? When I came in for a replacement key, Michelle and another disheveled woman were gossiping about me in the lobby, in front of other guests. Respect matters to me, and the whole thing was frustrating and humiliating. Michelle challenged me to speak with someone more professional in the morning, so I hope I can do that. If you want to avoid the same experience, I suggest staying elsewhere.

Everyone we met was so welcoming and kind, and our room was very clean. The hotel was just right for what we needed, with lots of shopping and entertainment nearby. I’d definitely book it again.

I was here for work training, and the service was amazing. The rooms were nice and the beds comfortable. On my last morning, the cafe worker noticed me working in the seating area and brought me my usual coffee 15 minutes before they opened. She’d remembered what I’d ordered the previous two mornings. That kind of service made my trip, and I’ll recommend Marriott Chicago Oakbrook Terrace to anyone staying nearby.

We spent ages waiting in the hallway, and no one even offered to let us wait in the lobby. There were repeated key problems, and we had to get replacements three times in two nights, including for some reason on checkout day. Staff mistakes kept happening, but we felt blamed and didn’t even get an apology. We just wanted to stay two nights in one room. How many times should we have to get locked out? The room we’d booked wasn’t available, so first they moved us to one with no climate control. That took a while to sort out. The next room had climate control, but measured 68 dB at the bed, which was pretty loud. The third was almost okay, except it was right next to nightly birthday parties. We’d already stood around for two hours before getting our third choice, basically the worst room in the place. The breakfast was disappointing, even free. The market is huge, and there are plenty of other places with $5 meals. Gross. The pool and equipment room were clean and nice, though a little small. I wouldn’t bother with this place. There are other hotels all around that are surely better, and I’m not sure this was much of an upgrade from a Motel 6.
