Piedmont Place

Update: I’ve stayed a few times over the past year, and each visit has been worse. Most recently I paid for a king room, but its toilet didn’t work. They offered another room with a queen bed, less space, and worse condition. There was no offer of compensation, and the desk service was horrible. My first stay was better. I needed a room near Kaiser for one night, and this hotel cost half as much as everything else nearby. It was clean and simple, with a big bed, wall-mounted TV, and a newer bathroom with a large shower. I think the owner or on-site manager checked me in, and he was very nice. Having to pay a quarter for ice was a little odd, but minor for the value.

A guy at the front desk pointed us to several restaurants and cafes within a five-minute walk for lunch. The room was quite spacious and really clean, with a walk-in shower in a fairly large bathroom. It’s a no-frills motel, but much more affordable than other places. I’d stay again.

The room had all sorts of problems, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The outside looked nice, but inside there were dirty sheets, missing or mismatched lights, and a broken phone. We contacted the front desk about the phone, but nothing was fixed. The shower was shoddy, and when we turned on the faucet the water came out yellow and disgusting, so we had to ask for another room. Service was terrible and amenities were lacking. When we complained, the front desk said they don’t provide housekeeping. They told us to bring our used towels downstairs to exchange for fresh ones instead of bringing them up.

We needed a last-minute place to stay while visiting sick family at a nearby hospital, and this was affordable, clean, and quiet. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, it’s close to the freeway, and the recently remodeled bathroom has a large modern shower. The parking lot has tight, angled spaces, so larger vehicles may have a harder time, though a skilled driver can get through without a problem.
