OYO Hotel Ocala, Fl I-75

The rooms were nasty, old, and outdated. Lights didn't work, the shower sprayed water over the wall behind the sprayer, there was hair in the refrigerator, and roaches were crawling around. I was tempted to get a hepatitis shot after that shower. I also found signs that drugs had been smoked in one of our rooms. Their continental breakfast was a toaster, a loaf of bread, cereal in two Tupperware bowls, and milk sitting in a bowl of ice. I'm giving one star because that's the lowest available.

For a quick stop while traveling through, this was a great find. The rate was good, the location was hard to beat, and the king bed was huge. I couldn't have asked for more.

This place feels run down, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. Some outlets, including ones by the bed, didn't work, and the air conditioning was just a window unit that wasn't very good. There's no pool, and little seems to have been done to make the place feel welcoming. When I booked, I specifically said it was two adults and two children under two, but they still charged me for an extra adult.

The room was supposed to be nonsmoking, and we were charged extra for that, but it clearly smelled of smoke. The smoke detector had also been removed. The refrigerator was covered in hair, and there was a long black hair on the pillowcase. Even the white towels that looked clean seemed like they had been used to mop the floor. There was mold on the lampshades and black grime smeared across walls, doors, and nearly every surface. I'm not picky and I know this is a budget hotel, but the lack of cleanliness was on another level. I'm only 5'5", and the showerhead barely reached my shoulder, so my 6'1" husband would have had an even harder time. A week later, the security deposit was still on hold on my card, and I hadn't heard back from the property.
