Americana Princess Suites and Condos

The condo was roomy, but it isn't pretty and needs a major upgrade. There's only one TV for everyone to share in the living room. I never saw housekeeping, even though they said someone would come for our trash. I couldn't use the jacuzzi during my stay. Whenever I cleaned it and turned on the jets, sand and dirt came flying out. I told the front desk, and all they said was, “Ohh ok sorry.” I could've booked somewhere else! Overall, I'd give it a 7/10.

The condos are spacious and just a block from the boardwalk, which is handy. Some of the furnishings have been improved since last year. There isn't maid service in the condos.

The only thing I liked was the short walk to the beach. This was our first stay, and our last. We normally go to Francis Scott Key family resort, but wanted to try somewhere nearer the beach. Lesson learned. We were charged an extra $500 security deposit on arrival, which wasn't mentioned on the website. My daughter had called two days earlier to check that pots and pans were available, and they said yes. What we actually found was two tiny saucepans and a cookie sheet, not enough for our party of 10, so we bought a set. There was leftover food in the cabinets. The sofa had a big stain, food was splattered down the refrigerator's side, and there were only eight towels for all of us, with instructions to wash them ourselves. The small bathroom toilet leaked onto the floor when flushed, and the master bath ceiling leaked. The building smelled of Marijuana every day; management responded by spraying air freshener. The bedroom had no refrigerator, and the kitchen looked cluttered with boxes when we briefly saw it. The window AC didn't seem to cool the room. The room leaned so badly that water bottles rolled off the TV stand, and dust on the cabinet top was thick enough to write in. We emailed multiple times asking for a refund, but the owners replied only once and refused to return the $221 for one night. I sent photos and explained that we didn't feel safe or comfortable in the dirty room. We had to find another place at the last minute. We'd stayed here about ten years ago and it was well kept then, so this was a huge disappointment. We left before breakfast and can't comment on it.

The view over both the bay and ocean was lovely, and apart from a few cleaning issues, it was a nice place to stay. The floors were sandy when we arrived, laundry from the previous guests was still in the washer, and we had to rewash visibly dirty dishes. I do wish there were a pool for rainy days.
