Paradise Plaza Inn

Lexi at the front desk was kind and helpful. My husband and I brought both our dogs, and they had a great time too. We were upgraded to a different room type with lots of space and two balconies. The remodeled bar welcomes dogs as well. We arrived late, after the kitchen had closed, but still felt welcome while having drinks. The owner was friendly and said everything in the kitchen is made from scratch. The cocktails and live music were great. We had a very welcoming stay and are already looking forward to coming back to try the food.

The place felt antiquated, dirty, and uncomfortable, despite the glowing reviews. I wouldn't trust the five-star ratings. Service seemed average at first, but after staff learned about the problems, I felt treated like public enemy number one. My friends and I packed up and checked out after just one night. Thankfully, we found a quality resort down the street for the rest of the vacation, and had a great time there despite this experience. Now the owner is refusing to refund the two nights out of three that we didn't use. She made up a story about what happened during checkout, in my view, to avoid paying me back. What a travesty. Please don't make the mistake I did. There are better options.

The location and views are amazing, right on the boardwalk and beach. The room and balcony are both large, and the balcony has two chaise lounges. But the room is dated, and the bathroom wasn't very clean. The jetted tub didn't look clean either, so I won't use it. There's no TV. I didn't come to the beach to watch television, but I do like a show before bed. When I called the front desk, they said they couldn't do anything because the wifi doesn't support the TV. You're getting the bare minimum here.

I remembered staying here more than six years ago and having a wonderful time, so I was disappointed by this visit. We paid for the room two months ahead. When I called twice to ask about the Taphouse restaurant and whether they still offered $10 daily coupons, I was told yes, along with six other coupons I could choose myself. Check-in was easy, and I got the coupons I'd selected online, but none for the Taphouse. That restaurant no longer exists as such. There's a bar and restaurant that only opens in the evening, and there were no coupons for it. I requested an accessible room because I needed grab bars in the tub. They were covered in drywall dust and slippery, and the floor had sand everywhere, so I had to clean the room before I could do anything else. I put the maid service sign on the knob and came back around 4:00, expecting the room to be cleaned. The sign was on the floor under the door, the trash was piled up, and nothing had been done. I flagged down a cleaner and asked for towels. On another day we left the sign out again, and returned to find it under the door, trash still on the floor, towels in the bathroom corner, and the room untouched. I had to flag someone down again. She asked what I needed, and I was confused. I thought the staff would know to pick up dirty towels and trash, and I shouldn't have to spell out every detail. I even had to ask for toilet paper. The hotel says it has daily room service, and I wouldn't choose a hotel without it. The cleaning staff needs better training, and cleanliness was my main concern since the website says they take pride in it. The hotel allows pets, but guests need to control them. I shouldn't have to ask someone to pull back a dog jumping on me as I get on the elevator, then have them get mad when I do. I also heard a dog barking at night and was woken up by it. The pillows were lumpy, flat squares, so small their cases had to be folded twice. They need to invest in decent ones. I won't come back.
