The place is really nice and the room looked very clean. It seems great for a pleasant getaway with your partner. Breakfast was the letdown. I know it’s called continental, but apart from the Greek yogurt, it barely felt like breakfast, more like a snack. The strawberries were old and rotten. There were only two sodas, two bottles of water, two sparkling waters, two granola bars, and two mini pastries. For what we paid, $412 for one night, I think it’s too much for no real breakfast.

We were offered another room to shower, thankfully, but after what happened we didn’t feel comfortable staying another night. Management refused to give me a full refund, saying we had stayed the night. We didn’t choose to stay that way. I’m 75 and my husband is 77 and in poor health. This was supposed to be our 10th Anniversary getaway. We checked in at 5pm and had dinner at the restaurant next door. Dinner was good, though they were out of several options, including white bread. Around 10pm I took a bath, and when I turned on the jets, black stuff shot into the water and all over me. I couldn’t shower because I would have had to stand in the dirty water, and management needed to see it. There was nobody at the front desk until 7am, so I was up all night.

The room was nice, but the front desk gentleman was very rude when I asked about parking. There was a big rip at the bottom of the bed sheet. I also stubbed my toe at the sliding glass door to the balcony, where the floor was rotted and my toe sank into a hole. They don’t bother contacting people who leave negative reviews, which says a lot about the place and the service you’ll get. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

I wasn’t sure the price would be worth it, but it absolutely was. The special touches were lovely: breakfast in the fridge, a robe, and strong, higher-end Keurig coffee. I also liked the bridge to Fagers, which felt really intimate, and many people don’t know it’s there. It was a great stay. The walls are made of wood, so there isn’t much insulation between them, which is understandable since you’re staying in a converted lighthouse. No one told me about the pool at the adjacent property. I’d read about it in the reviews, but I’m not sure whether they don’t mention it to keep numbers down since it serves two properties.

This is our 7th year here, and we absolutely love the Lighthouse Hotel. The Jacuzzi tubs, bay view, and exceptional service are all reasons I highly recommend it.
