Ocean 1 Hotel and Suites

We were unsure after reading the reviews, but ended up having an incredible stay. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and being so close to the boardwalk was hard to beat. We had an oceanfront room and would definitely stay again.

Being right on the boardwalk made it easy to get everywhere, and the oceanfront view from the balcony was lovely. The room was roomy, with a large bathroom that had shampoo and body wash, plus two chairs and a table on the balcony. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and the beds were comfortable, though the pillows were very soft and didn't give much support. The bedroom looked clean, but there was a noticeable layer of dust on the headboard, and the property felt dated. Parking was awkward: you can only load or unload on site, then have to use the lot two blocks away across the main street. Boardwalk noise went late into the night on the second floor, and conversations from nearby balconies carried because there were no privacy dividers.

The balcony and ocean view helped make up for the small, basic room, and the staff were kind and helpful. I changed this to 5 Stars because the manager and staff earned it. This isn't a luxury hotel like the Four Seasons, but it's budget friendly, clean, safe, and in a great spot for a quick night or two by the ocean and boardwalk. The sheets and pillows were fresh, clean, and stain free, and I didn't feel gross in the room. I read the 1 star reviews, but didn't see any sign of bugs. I also got countless towel exchanges. Parking was as described, one spot per room, a block and a half away, and staff were around cleaning all day. My main frustration was the key card. It needed replacing every time I shut the door, and sometimes the replacement still didn't work. I had to go to the front desk for a new one each time I left. That would be a huge issue if I stayed more than two nights.

The oceanfront room is right on the boardwalk, and the location was beautiful. This isn't one of the biggest hotels down here, but the people at the counter, especially Brittany, did everything they could to make things pleasant and accommodate us. When we had problems with our booking, the manager and Brittany worked together and took care of everything. They made it easy, which mattered because dealing with a booking problem is the last thing you want on vacation. The staff's demeanor was absolutely spectacular.
