Plim Plaza Hotel

Latia at the front desk made our stay sweeter. She was always smiling, went above and beyond, and set a high standard for customer service. She makes real personal connections instead of just going through the motions. We could all learn from her energy and kindness. This girl is going places. The hotel itself is clean and sufficient.

We checked in on August 25 and are staying through August 29. The location is good, but the hotel was a disappointment for what it costs. The lobby looked fair, but the hallways were very dated. The carpet needs to go and the walls badly need paint. The doors were awful and look like they haven't been replaced since the hotel opened. There was a strong orange air freshener smell everywhere. There were only two towels and two washcloths in the room. We had to ask for more, and were told we could get them later; we didn't receive any until we asked again. They said there were no spare towels because they had no hot water. My sister and I wondered how the sheets were being washed without hot water, and we felt the bed hadn't been fully changed. There was no comforter, just two sheets and an itchy polyester blanket that seemed extremely old. The AC kept shutting off completely until we turned it on again. Cable wasn't working, supposedly because it was being worked on, and came back the following day late in the evening. The free coffee was horrible, so bring your own coffee pot or find somewhere to buy coffee. The pool area was okay, but the pool didn't seem clean during the whole week. I saw someone test the water one day, but never saw chemicals being added or fresh water put in. They had put a new floor in the bathroom, but left the old wallpaper peeling from the walls. For the money, I expected better and more, like free breakfast and decent fresh coffee. I'm not sure I'd stay here again, probably not.

The only good thing is the boardwalk location and how close it is to things. The lobby and hallways smelled awful, maybe because the old carpets hold water from the beach and pool. The whole place looks old and needs replacing. Parking was a problem, with spots too tight and not enough of them. The rooms and bathrooms were tiny, dated, and the beds were in bad shape. The TV looked like it was from the 1950s. The AC barely blew air, and when I checked, its filter was clogged with dust and debris. I had to clean it myself and felt disgusted. It's overpriced.

Being right on the boardwalk is a great location, but that was the only real plus for us. The room felt old, musty, and really grimy. We stayed three nights and housekeeping never came, so our towels weren't changed either. Parking was a mess. For what the rooms cost, this place badly needs a renovation.
