I don't usually leave reviews, but this stay was rough. There were mildewy pillows, mold in the shower, and lights that didn't work. Those little issues weren't enough on their own to make me write a bad review. The real problem was construction in the unit above us, from 10am until at least 4pm, with drilling and hammering so loud it sounded like it was happening inside our apartment. We couldn't enjoy the room, sleep in, or even nap. I'm incredibly frustrated by the whole experience.

The location is great if you want to be away from the boardwalk. It was peaceful in October, with little traffic, chilly mornings and nights, and pleasant afternoons with a breeze off the ocean. The rest of our stay at Sandy Square was a letdown. I waited more than three months to write this because I was furious during my October 2022 visit, but here's what happened. I exchanged a timeshare week and paid extra because the unit had three bedrooms. I arrived two hours early, called the number in the email to ask about checking in early, and was told someone would get back to me. We went to eat ten minutes later, and nobody called during the next two hours. There isn't a check-in desk at Sandy Square, just an emailed door code. Inside, the frying pans were scratched and warped so they sat unevenly on the stove. The utensils were mismatched, including plastic and silicone ones, which may explain the scratches. The balcony furniture looked old and unwashed. There was no soap, shampoo, or conditioner in the bathrooms, and the towels were as cheap as could be. When I called about it, I got another promise of a return call that never came. The rooms felt dated, the sofa cushions were worn out and unsupportive, and dust on the ceiling fans kept us from turning them on. For the extra money I paid, I expected better rooms and amenities. I've only had two bad timeshare exchanges, and both were in Ocean City. I hope people see this review and avoid the bad experience I had.

There was lots of room for our family, and the place was quiet and kid friendly. You can't beat how close it is to the beach. We had a positive first stay, and little things like hand soap and coffee filters were available even though we skipped the paper and linen package. Still, for the price, I expected better decor. The cheap plastic patio chairs and tables made it hard to enjoy the view comfortably. The furniture had plenty of nicks, scratches, and dents, and I couldn't tell whether some light switches were broken or the bulbs had burned out. It was great having a washer and dryer.

The stay was perfect apart from a couple of small snags. The unit's layout was well thought out, and entry was contactless. Before ironing anything, check the iron. Ours was badly burnt on the plate, so my husband had to steam his wedding pants in the shower. After the time change, the lock was still set to the old time. We found that out at 9am when my husband got locked out while making two trips to the car, so leave the door ajar or have someone stay inside.
