The Coral Sands Motel

The service was great, and the beds were more comfortable than I expected. We stayed two nights in September with my mom and grandma. The beach is very close, and we could walk to most places in town. Our room came with two beach tags, which we didn’t need once summer was over, and the motel’s BBQ spot was closed for the season. It was quiet overall, especially for somewhere so close to the beach. We could hear the people next door clearly through the connecting door, though the concrete walls and ceiling kept other noise down.

The room was clean, the staff were kind, and the water pressure was great. We paid a reasonable price, and parking right outside our door was convenient. The boardwalk and beach are close, too. I’d consider coming back, but I’d want to see some maintenance dealt with first, especially the floor. The vinyl strips were badly loose, and we kept tripping over them. Anything spilled could slip underneath, which was gross. You could also see daylight under the outside door, and it needs a sweep. The plunger was sitting on the bathroom floor without a holder. With the TV on, the neighboring room wasn’t a problem, but once it was off, we could hear everything. The coffee was awful. One bed had a comfortable memory foam topper; the other felt like sleeping on a box spring.

The location made it easy to pop back to my room from the beach whenever I needed something, and it’s close to several good restaurants. There’s also a breakfast restaurant attached to the motel, though I didn’t try it. The workers were friendly and suggested nearby places to check out. I’d stay here again in the off season. I spent two nights, June 4-6, and paid $120 and $109. For that price, I felt I got my money’s worth. The room was spacious, with a splash of color behind the bed, and the bathroom had upscale-looking tile and a big shower. I liked having a patio where I could sit, eat lunch, and watch people go by. The beds and pillows weren’t very comfortable. The TV didn’t work, though I should have mentioned it while I was there. Parking is very tight, so I was glad to have a small sedan.

The dishwasher was full of dirty dishes when we arrived, and the pullout couch collapsed on one side when we tried to make it into a bed. Management said they knew about the couch and thought it had been fixed, then told us to sleep somewhere else in the room. For the dishes, they said the cleaners should have run the dishwasher, but nobody had. I wouldn’t stay here again. It wasn’t worth the money, and management handled the whole thing very unprofessionally.
