BayVue Hotel, Resort and Suites

Breakfast had lots of hot choices, plus bagels, sweets, cereal, waffles, and more. The rooms were very clean and the staff were pleasant, thanks Jamie. We had a fantastic stay at the BayVue Hotel and wouldn't hesitate to come back.

The breakfast was another problem. It looked like yesterday's food reheated: the sausage was shriveled and rubbery, the bacon was dark brown and shattered when I bit it, and the eggs looked much the same. In the room, the bathroom smelled overwhelmingly of cleaning chemicals. The windows only opened a few inches because they were blocked, and my partner and I had asthma and sinus trouble overnight. My hair and clothes reeked of the smell when I left. We checked out after one night and moved to a different hotel. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and none of this was their fault. We had booked three nights through Expedia. The manager wasn't on site that day, but said she'd reimburse us for one night. Expedia charged us for one night because of the last-minute cancellation, and the manager assured us she'd reimburse the third night too. She never did. We called several times to sort it out, but the front desk eventually told us she'd changed her mind and wouldn't refund us after all. If you're chemically sensitive or don't want old, inedible breakfast, avoid staying here. If you have a problem and ask for a refund, the manager might promise one and then avoid you.

The pool and hot tub were the one bright spot on our little getaway. Everything else was a letdown, especially for around $250 for two nights. We booked based only on the reviews and were disappointed as soon as we arrived. The front door was meant to be automatic, but it was broken and had a sign taped up telling guests to slide it open. It was heavy. The elevator buttons looked like they were coming loose. Our room smelled musty, the paint was chipped on the walls and doors, and the bathroom door wouldn't fully close or lock. The tub drain wouldn't close, so we couldn't take a bath. The heater smelled burnt and made us nervous to use it. The bed was so uncomfortable that my husband and I both slept terribly. The TVs weren't smart TVs, had poor picture quality, and offered only about 30 basic channels. The other channels were highlighted but unavailable under the TV service plan. Breakfast was gross, like frozen food warmed up, and every juice we tried tasted like chemicals. We don't recommend this place, especially at that price.

The room smelled of cleaning product when we arrived, which I took as a sign it had just been cleaned. Staff were friendly, the beach was very close, and the breakfast was awesome with everything you'd want. The pool and hot tub water looked a bit dingy, though there were lots of kids there during our stay. It was a really nice stay overall.
