I remembered this as an adorable little place from a few years ago, and wanted to show it to friends in case they came back to town. What I saw this time was a disgrace, and I was embarrassed to say I'd stayed there before. There were people working on torn apart vehicles and piles of belongings and furniture across the entrances. It looked like homeless hotel hoppers had taken it over, and I wouldn't feel safe using a kitchen when I didn't know what was being cooked on the stoves. It's a shame for the town, right at the Ocean entrance. I wonder if Days Inn Corporate knows what kind of image this place is giving them. They took it over only a few years ago, and it's sad to see it managed so shamefully. I won't return unless it's gutted and responsible owners take over. I was glad I didn't book it again.

We were assigned room 6 and left after just five minutes because of the strong mold smell. The bathroom was dirty, with visible mold spores on the ceiling over the toilet and shower, and the pullout couch was a worn foam slab covered in hair, dirt, and cigarette burns. I should have paid more attention to earlier reviews mentioning mold. Checking in at the nearby Days Inn was frustratingly slow, and we didn't feel safe or comfortable enough to stay. The property still refused to refund us. I wouldn't recommend it, even on a tight budget.

We booked a Queen Deluxe with a kitchen through Expedia because we specifically needed one, but the owner moved us to smaller rooms in a different building and only told us after we signed the paperwork. He said our room was unavailable because of a crime scene and blood, then refused to upgrade us or let us pay the difference for a king unit that was available online. It took 15 minutes to check in, and it seemed like he was changing rooms. He said he couldn't help. We called the police and learned there had been no crime there, so the story was a lie. While we confronted him, another couple was trying to get money back after being double charged and having a gift card cleared out. They were on their honeymoon. The whole thing was stressful and awful. I've never dealt with anything like it. The owner deliberately gives people the wrong room and brushes them off. Do not stay here.

We paid $175 for one night, then saw the online rate had dropped to $52. We had to check in at another hotel, which we hadn't expected, and the pool, hot tub, and breakfast listed on the booking site were there too. The pool ceiling had a section that looked badly damaged and close to falling in. In our room, the shower curtain fell to the floor before we even entered the bathroom, and it was soaking wet when I picked it up. The coffee maker was cracked and had old water inside, paper cups were stuck together like they'd been stacked wet, and the couch cushions were badly stained. The bed blanket was heavily stained, damp, and had holes. Towels in both the bathroom and kitchen were already wet, some stained. The bedroom and bathroom windows were open when we arrived, and there was a hole in the bedroom wall where the doorknob had hit. It was hot and muggy with no AC and no way to set the thermostat cooler. The bathroom door wouldn't lock, the key wouldn't lock the front door from outside, and the chain latch had been removed, so we had to lock it from inside when leaving. I wouldn't recommend this place.

We had a fairly pleasant stay for a good price, and the employees were friendly, but the dog smell and dirty floors were hard to overlook. Room 2 had sand, dirt, and dog hair on the floor, a strong dog odor near the sofa, and two partly smoked cigarettes inside the sofa bed. That bed was uncomfortable to sit or sleep on and sloped toward the head, though the kids didn't complain. The room could use meaningful improvements, and we'll choose another hotel next time unless things change. The staff we met, two at the front desk and one housekeeper, were warm and accommodating. They brought what we asked for, and the housekeeper thanked me for telling her about a couple of problems. The pool and hot tub were clean and enjoyable. We liked having a marked parking spot directly outside our room, though a car full of belongings occupied the unmarked space beside it for all three days and two nights, over the line, making it awkward to park and get in and out. The suite was fairly modern and cute, as my daughter said, with a small kitchen and a bedroom separate from the kids' sofa bed. The dark bedroom curtains helped me sleep past sunrise and made naptime for our two-year-old easier. There were plenty of cooking and eating utensils, dishes, cookware, and paper towels, but no cutting board, sponge, or dish soap. The housekeeper lent me soap. Bring cooking oil and liquid creamer if you need them. The room had powdered creamer and a few Keurig cups, while liquid creamers were available at breakfast. The sink had no counter space for toiletries, and the shower rod fell twice with little pressure. There were no clocks except the microwave display, and the space beside the queen bed was tight. The bedroom also lacked dresser drawers, a mirror, hangers, and a lamp. Dirt on top of the fridge seemed to have been missed. The microwave was unplugged in the cabinet above it, but worked after I noticed. The front door chain lock was broken, and one switch turned on both the kitchen and living room ceiling lights. I wished they had separate switches so I could cook without lighting up the room while the family watched TV. The TV and cable box were unplugged too. Check-in, the pool, and the complimentary breakfast are at the Days Inn around the corner, a short drive or walk away. Breakfast had waffles, oatmeal, cereal, bread and muffins, prepackaged hardboiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, juice, and coffee, but no meat.
