WorldMark Mariner Village

I liked the place as a beach getaway, though it didn't feel like a true resort. It's comfortable and nice enough in the usual Worldmark style, without being luxurious, and seemed family oriented. The unit was refreshed two years ago and was in good shape, with an up to date style. There were a few minor signs of normal wear. It's right on the ocean, but the view depends on the floor: the 3rd and 4th floors have views, the 2nd has a partial one, and the 1st can't see the ocean. The pool closes in the off season, while the hot tub stays open. Cold, rainy, windy weather made that less appealing during my stay. The gym is very small, with only three pieces of equipment. Internet was basically out on the first day, and one TV had trouble finding channels, sometimes taking several tries. Noise carries from neighboring units and the walkway. I had an end unit and could still hear people, and it would probably be worse in busy season. Since the bedrooms face the walkway, early morning comings and goings might wake you.

The furniture and room layout were good, but the bed was really hard and the TV kept losing its signal. It's a decent place overall, though it's a bit far from town. Cell service was terrible, and we skipped the Wi-Fi because it cost extra. I've never stayed somewhere that charged for Wi-Fi before.

I went clam digging with friends and didn't manage to find any myself, but coming back to the lodging was perfect. The views are priceless.

After six years away, I came back for the first time. Check-in was easy, and the check-in area looks the same, though they have a few more things for sale now. Our room faced the ocean, so we got a beautiful sunset. The pool was clean and a little heated, just right for a morning swim. They finished an interior update in the past year, and the changes suit the ocean resort's feel inside and out. It was quiet in the late evenings during our summer visit. The only drawback was having no cell service in the room; it worked only out front near check-in.
