Courtyard San Diego Oceanside

Michael at the front desk was friendly and explained where to park and find our room. We arrived after 9pm, tired from a five-hour drive and hoping to get to bed before our church convention the next morning. But getting the luggage cart through the doorway was a squeeze because of the large wardrobe, and the room was much smaller than the website picture made it look. With all the furniture, it felt cramped. There was barely any space between the bed and wall, and my tiny wife had to turn sideways to get into bed. The bathroom was the worst part. My wife found long, straight black hair on the floor and in the sink, so we had to clean it ourselves. While doing that, we saw soap scum all over the bottom of the glass shower door. The bathroom was small, and it was pretty obvious it hadn't been cleaned well. Even the last sheet of toilet paper was half torn off. We were at the church seminar for three days and got back late, so we didn't see much of the rest of the hotel. Based on our room, I was glad we didn't have time to look around. We've stayed at Marriott hotels around the country many times, and this was by far our least pleasant experience. Disappointed. I hope your stay goes better than ours. Gabriel was great at check-in, professional, polite, and helpful with what I needed. The rest of the stay was hard to recommend, though. I was on the top floor and the elevator didn't work, my room key kept failing, and parking was awful. Weekends were way too loud, and with only one night person, nothing could be done about the noise. I had to change my review.

I don't usually stay in hotels, but we booked this one during a short vacation and it felt ritzy to me. The rooms were clean, with really comfortable beds and furniture. Hospitality was great too. They have a 24-hour fitness center, plus access to the pool and jacuzzi.

We like Marriott, but this was a new low for customer service and it hurts the brand. There was no AC all night, and the breakfast ran out at 0800 even though the hours were 0630-0930. Then they tried to sell us the full menu, despite our room being booked with breakfast. When I raised it, the response was "we don't offer breakfast." They tried to convince me breakfast wasn't part of my stay and argued instead of trying to make it right. I stopped the discussion when the front desk handed me the breakfast codes for their system. Please do better.
