Blue Whale

Right on the beach, of course. The rooms are 10/10, clean and really nice inside and out. The guys and ladies were so helpful, they'd give you whatever you needed.

The location is nice, but this place has only 12 to 13 units and felt more like a motel than a resort. I won't stay here again or recommend it. When we arrived to check in at 4:15 pm, nobody was in the office. We had to call the number on the office door, and even the person on the phone struggled to explain which unit we'd been assigned and how to get the keys. The building is old and had a funny smell. The pillows were very old, flat, and uncomfortable, so I had trouble sleeping. The locks didn't feel safe and could be opened with a credit card, so we took our valuables with us whenever we left. At checkout, they didn't give me a receipt, even though I asked for one. Less than an hour after leaving, we got a notification that Blue Whale resort had charged us $50. If there was going to be a charge, they should have told us, especially when we asked for a receipt. I called and left numerous messages about it but heard nothing back. Eventually I reached the office manager/maintenance guy, who was very rude and hung up on me. Paying $50 won't ruin me, but the principle bothers me. It looks to me like a scam and like they're taking advantage of people. I hope my experience helps anyone considering a stay be careful about what might happen.

Our "home" resort is right on the boardwalk, with the beach just a hop, skip, and a jump away. I love the location. Thank goodness for the parking, because finding it is a nightmare.

I had a timeshare at the Blue Whale back in 2000, and it gave me one of my best Southern California vacations. The place has stayed in my memory. Our unit was clean, spacious, and well equipped, and the staff were welcoming and very friendly. It's a beachfront resort with direct ocean access and parking right outside the door. We loved the place. Enjoy the Oceanside Pier at night!
