Days Inn Oceanside

The staff were kind and very helpful, but our weekend stay had some real downsides. The roof was being replaced, and the noise was really unpleasant. I was shocked that the workers were there even on Easter morning. The pool and hot tub being out of service wasn't a huge disappointment for me, but that wasn't made clear enough when we arrived, and it wasn't mentioned on the website where I booked. The room also smelled a little musty. Air fresheners might help.

We came to visit our daughter on base, and it was easy to get to town from the hotel. Our room was exceptionally clean and well maintained, with one of the most comfortable beds we've slept in for quite a while. We had a great ocean view, and the walking path to the marina was right on site. A couple of small downsides: the train passing in the morning woke us up, and the pool wasn't heated. Luckily, there was a hot tub.

Our grandson was very disappointed that the pool was closed, since we picked this hotel so he could swim when we weren't at the beach. We also woke very early Saturday morning to the roof being repaired. Both things could have been mentioned on the website so we would know before booking. Not good hospitality for our two-night stay at days in.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our adjoining room had a door to the room next to ours, and the TV coming through it was so loud that we thought there might be a domestic violence situation. I called the night manager. She came by and knocked several times but got no answer, then offered to move us. As we were heading to the office for new keys, the neighbor returned and turned off the TV.
