It was a plus that the hotel was only about ten minutes from the San Luis Rey gate at pendleton. Our room was bigger than expected, but the bedspread had crumbs on it, and the room and hallway smelled awful, like stale beer and mustiness. I bought cleaning supplies at the local Target and cleaned the vinyl tile floor myself with paper towels and multi-surface cleaner. It clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while. The paper towels turned black, and I picked up big clumps of women's hair. The room smelled much better afterward. On our last morning, 05/11/26 at 6:00 am, I asked the lobby attendant to use the common bathrooms by the breakfast room while my daughter showered in our room. They said no, they didn't have public bathrooms, even though I'm a hotel guest and those bathrooms are in the common hallway, not reserved for employees.

During our pretty long trip away from home, Rachel was the best hotel staff member we've dealt with. She brought such good hospitality and good vibes, and our experience was much better because of her. ❤️

The room door was broken and hard to close, and the shower bar was broken too, so the curtain only covered the middle. The TV and remote didn't work. The hotel looks very dated and poorly maintained. Breakfast was very limited, with waffles about the only thing worth having.

The staff were wonderful, always friendly and helpful. The building needs repair, though, and our toilet wouldn't refill after flushing. We could hear AC units in other rooms switching on and off, which made our room noisy. Breakfast was disappointing too, with very few choices and waffles as the only hot option.

Paola told us we had to pay in cash, which already seemed questionable and unprofessional. Then, even though we left the room clean and in good shape, she kept our $100 deposit. We weren't given a valid reason for not getting it back. The way this was handled felt unfair and dishonest. I wouldn't recommend staying here. DO NOT STAY HERE.
