Comfort Inn & Suites, Odessa I-20

At least the staff were extremely nice and helpful. Still, I won't stay at this hotel chain again. The room was in rough shape, with an uneven floor, peeling doors, badly painted walls, and an AC unit that didn't work right, so sleeping was difficult. Breakfast was a letdown, too. The scrambled eggs looked like they'd been blended to make them seem like more, the coffee was poor, and the apple I picked up looked like a wrinkled raisin. At $147 a night, it felt like a rip-off. I'm not someone who asks to switch rooms or get money back.

January 2025. The beds were clean and the AC worked fine, fortunately. But the place is getting very old. The furniture, carpet, room lights, and curtains were all barely working. I've stayed in worse hotels, but I didn't expect this from a Comfort Inn. Really disappointed.

The worst part was the heat. My AC came on only three times all night, and the room got so hot I woke up at 10 p.m. and opened a window to the freezing cold outside. Once I shut it, the room heated up again within an hour, and I ended up leaving early. The whole building also reeked of sulfur, and the front area was super hot. My room was nice apart from some stains here and there. I don't know what happened since my last visit, but they need to fix the ACs and figure out that sulfur smell. Avoid it unless you really like heat.

I can't give zero stars, so this gets one. The hotel smelled strongly of sulfur, enough to keep me awake, which is the opposite of what you'd want at a hotel. The food was terrible, too. I think the apples had some kind of growth or mold on them, and they had all gone bad.
