Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham Odessa

The rooms were alright, but this was our second visit and the same problem came up. The lobby employee working check-in didn’t understand what we were asking, and whenever we asked something, she had an attitude. She also wouldn’t give me a receipt because we’d paid through a third party, and was rude about that too. She doesn’t know how to talk to customers or provide customer service. This was our last stay here.

I stayed two nights. The first night, in a king room, the TV kept tripping the breaker, and the lights, refrigerator, and microwave didn’t work either. Around 7:30 that evening I called the desk and was told there were no other rooms. The next morning, the manager said other rooms had been available and she didn’t know why I’d been told that. She said I’d get a refund for the first night, but needed the owners to issue it. I moved to a king suite for night two, and everything worked properly there. At checkout, they said they could refund me, just not right away, but I still had to pay full price. I’d also provided my state employee certificate at check-in, but the receipt showed state tax despite my being tax-exempt for work travel. The rooms are worn and dirty, nothing like the pictures, which must be from when the place first opened. I still haven’t received any refund. I won’t stay here again and don’t recommend it.

The room was spacious and open, and I liked the layout. Unfortunately, sleep was tough: I could hear every step through the thin floors, including heavy walking upstairs at 3 AM and again at 7 AM. The towels were all stained, and they felt really thin and cheap, nowhere near hotel quality.

I was supposed to stay three nights at the Hawthorn Extended Stay Hotel in Odessa, Texas, starting June 27th, but left a day early after a disappointing stay. The price was among the highest in the area, and I expected better cleanliness, comfort, and service. The first room wasn’t properly cleaned: dusty floors with visible stains and residue, a dirty kitchenette, trash cans without liners, and hair left in the bathroom. It seemed like the room had been rushed through without proper service after the previous guest. When I asked to move, they said no other rooms with two queen beds were available, even though the website still showed that room type as available. I had no good option and spent a night in a one queen bed room. The next day I was moved to another room, which was a little better but still below expectations. I’d look at other nearby places for better value and standards.
