Parkside Inn Odessa

For the price, it’s hard to complain. The place was clean, quiet, and private, and the staff were polite. Most of all, I felt safe and didn’t have to worry about my vehicle or anything inside it. Decent place.

We ended up leaving and driving into KC for a nice room. I didn’t see any bugs, but the place was still so gross, with lots of people coming and going and things going on. It seemed like a “no tell” motel. Back then it was just called the Odessa Motel, and I don’t think that place could ever be clean enough again. We’d been there several years before, stopped in, and paid on a very hot day. I didn’t inspect the room properly. I put my suitcase on the bed and rushed into the shower. The shower was grimy with scum, and the lower bathroom walls were really dirty, though the sink and toilet were clean. I got dressed quickly and checked the rest of the room. There was heavy dust under the beds, and the carpet felt kind of sticky. The bed looked clean at first, but when I pulled back the covers I found pubic hairs on the sheet and one of the pillowcases. The office was very unwilling to change the bed. I asked for sheets so I could change them myself, but they said no.

Roaches! They refused to refund my $80 and yelled that there were no roaches. Do not stay!

I felt very safe here as a woman traveling alone. The desk clerk was really nice, and both the room and bathroom were very clean. The bed was comfortable, with crisp sheets. I only stayed one night while driving across the country, but the AC was great and I’d stay again. It really does live up to “Parkside”: there’s a nice park with a lake and playground you can get to.
