Courtyard by Marriott Ogden

We always get friendly service here, and it’s our favorite Ogden hotel when we visit our son at Weber State. The place is very clean, and the showers are the best. The HVAC was being upgraded and had been shut off, but since it was winter we didn’t need the AC. The heat worked fine.

The cancellation and room assignment made for a rough start, and the service problems continued throughout our stay. I had prepaid through a third-party service, but arrived a day later after our plans changed. I called ahead to adjust the dates and was told they couldn’t change them without canceling the whole reservation, so I accepted losing the first night. Nobody told me the hotel would void the entire prepaid stay without notice. I arrived with two teenagers and got a room with one king bed, despite having reserved for more guests. The next day, I asked about housekeeping and was told it had to be requested at check-in, which the front desk had never mentioned. They said they’d send someone up, but when we returned six hours later, nothing had been serviced. In the morning, the mobile room-service order kept failing in the app. I went downstairs and asked in person for three basic items. I was told, “We have a banquet, things are crazy, I’m not sure I can do all that.” I politely said the hotel’s internal chaos wasn’t the guest’s responsibility and I expected the services it advertises and that I paid for, especially while traveling with children. We visit the area often and usually stay at the Hilton, where we’ve never had anything like this level of disorganization. We tried somewhere different and won’t make that mistake again. I was extremely disappointed with this Courtyard Marriott.

The staff are awesome, and I appreciate that the hotel took the time to make things better. I’d recently left a poor review, then they called me and took care of everything. The hotel is working to resolve its issues.

We slept well, which is unusual for us. The bed was comfortable, though the pillows weren’t, and every staff member we interacted with was very friendly. It was a very good stay.
