Best Western Lake Okeechobee

I went to another nearby hotel for my second night and paid half as much, then slept like a baby. I had come to Okeechobee because my sister was having surgery at the hospital, and chose Best Western for its location. The room itself wasn't bad, but the bed was awful. Its old metal frame squeaked so loudly when I moved that the sound carried into the bathroom. The air conditioner also sounded like a door opening every time it shut off, so after a tiring day I couldn't get the good night's sleep I needed. Such a waste of money. You've had so many complaints about those beds, why haven't they been fixed? Such a shame. Never again.

This spot is an easy walk for Florida Trail hikers. My room was the first one by the office and had a beautiful shower. Danelle was my favorite front desk encounter at BW. We laughed and swapped hilarious stories on the phone while she handled my check-in paperwork. I'd accidentally booked a smoking room, and she sorted it out for me on site. :)

The staff were helpful, and breakfast had lots of choices and was very good. The place was spotless, and the beds were really comfortable. I had a quiet, restful night's sleep.

We asked for a non-smoking room but were given one that smelled strongly of smoke. We always carry Lysol, so that helped. The room was very clean, and we'd stay again.
