Towneplace Suites by Marriott East Lansing

After a 10+ hour drive, another hotel turned us away with our cat, and we were scrambling to find somewhere to stay. The front desk agent, whose name I didn’t get, welcomed us and really made our day after that stressful moment. We’ll definitely become local customers now.

For a business trip, this place worked perfectly. The service was excellent, the floors were quiet, and it’s very pet friendly. The room would suit family or business stays if you want to cook or have a more home like feel. It’s a bit far to walk to restaurants, and the closet smelled a little strange, just typical hotel stuff. Still, it was a great stay.

Chris was a delight, and everyone at the front desk was friendly and welcoming. He helped with whatever I needed and made sure I felt looked after. That’s above and beyond service. I spent about a week and a half in East Lansing for work, and this older place made a surprisingly comfortable home base. The bed, pillows, shower, and kitchen were all great, though some cooking utensils were sticky or dirty. The carpet smelled a bit mildewy, like hotel carpet can. The older A/C worked well and stayed on all night, unlike some newer hotels where it shuts off to save energy and the room gets too hot. I liked the quiet outdoor patio, and the location was handy, with restaurants, the athletic club, a gym, and more across the street. I didn’t try the complimentary breakfast, and the hotel gym was small but cute, though I didn’t use it. You could hear doors closing or alarms from other rooms, but it didn’t cause any major problems. It was a random, welcome surprise, and I was beyond impressed. For a 3-star hotel, I left very happy and would gladly stay again if I’m back in East Lansing. Highly recommend, my friend. Good luck!

A comfortable, clean, nice hotel, with coffee and teas available in the lobby. The person at the front desk couldn’t have been nicer.
