I came because I’m a sucker for movie locations, and this was one of the major filming spots for Twisters. The pool was built for the movie and filled in once filming ended, so there isn’t a real pool here. You can still see fresh dirt where it was filled, though. The rodeo scene was built in an open lot across the street and taken down after filming, so there’s virtually no evidence of it now. If you’re after a pool, this place doesn’t have one, but it does offer a little blockbuster nostalgia.

I called and got hung up on. On the second call, the answer was grunts, with only “$80s” said clearly. I was looking to book two nights. Save yourself the trouble of calling them.

The decor is really dated, and the price feels too high for what they offer. Staff were unfriendly, and guests aren’t allowed, so if you’re visiting someone in town, don’t expect to bring them to your room. They also complained that I was parked too close to my door and said I was on the “sidewalk,” even though the parking spaces have no “bumpers”.

The bathrooms looked recently redone and were pretty clean in both rooms I tried, with no mold or bugs that I noticed. They leave you alone, which was fine by me. The carpets were the rough part, sticky and nasty, especially in one room. Bring your own slippers, towels, pillows, and toilet paper if you can. With those, the place is okay.

I got out of there so fast I can't even say for sure whether they served breakfast. Between the rats overcharging you and roaches making off with the rest of your money, it was a mess. The room interior hadn't been maintained, and hotel maids hadn't cleaned it.
