OYO Townhouse Oklahoma City Airport

After a long trip, finding out they had no room for us was not great. The hotel was overbooked and didn’t honor our reservation, and apparently didn’t think to tell us beforehand. The woman at the desk said she had “bad news,” but didn’t apologize. I know it wasn’t her fault, though I expected a little more. Fortunately, plenty of other hotels were just a few minutes away. I also found the unlit parking lot odd, and I’m sure that wouldn’t feel ideal for a lot of people. In hindsight, I hadn’t realized how poorly reviewed this place was when I booked.

I waited in my car in the parking lot from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. for a room I’d prepaid for and checked was available in advance after seeing the reviews. Then, at check-in time, they told me there were no rooms. I didn’t see anyone arrive with luggage while I was there, yet I was told everything was booked. This feels like fraudulent business. Don’t come here.

The woman at the front desk let us use the WiFi and gave us a password so we could book at Comfort Suites up the road. We’d already booked there and were writing this from a clean, neat, professional room. After driving over 700 miles in chilly, windy weather, I also appreciated the fire going in the welcome area and the plush chairs. That earns a second star. We’d reserved a room at OYO weeks ago, but arrived tonight to find it had overbooked and we had nowhere to stay. Nobody had notified us. I rarely leave a low rating, but an apology for the mistake would have made a difference. I’m writing this in case management reads the reviews. The parking lot was completely dark, and the hotel sign was unlit too. That looked sketchy, especially when every business by the airport and 40 was so well lit. Maybe it’s an effort to save money or a maintenance problem, but it doesn’t inspire confidence in security or pride in the place. At least fix the sign light. From outside, it looked like a creepy motel movie set, “The Hotel that Light Forgot.”

After their mistake, they refused to give me a refund. I’d booked online, then got a call just before heading over to check in saying they were overbooked. I asked the front desk attendant whether this happens often, and apparently it does. I spent an hour on hold trying to get my money back, only to hear they couldn’t reach the property to verify my claim. If the website can’t sync with the hotel’s availability, it shouldn’t take reservations. OYO’s technical team needs to do better.
