Residence Inn by Marriott Oklahoma City Airport

I wanted somewhere close to the airport, and this hotel was just right. My room was clean and spacious, and breakfast was tasty with plenty of choices. Everyone I met on staff was friendly. The woman looking after the breakfast area was especially helpful and attentive. I'd stay here again if I'm in the area.

The area around the hotel felt a little depressing and sketchy at night, though getting to decent places was easy. The two gas stations I visited had armed guards, which was reassuring but also said something about the neighborhood. My room needed airing out because it had a faint old-carpet smell. The hot water smelled odd too, more like a water tank or line that needs cleaning than sewage or rotten eggs. The TV looked dated and had a purple tint, and I couldn't get into the display settings to adjust it. There were plenty of good things: the service and room service were great, the lounge was nice, the kitchen was fantastic, and the room felt like a small studio apartment. Breakfast was free. The gym cable equipment was surprisingly good, and the guest laundry was nice for the price. The lint trap compartments in all the dryers badly needed service, but the machines worked well and cost $2 per load. The A/C also worked well and didn't have the odd smell I've encountered in other value hotels.

I stayed for over three weeks after a flood at my apartment, and the staff made my dog and me feel welcome throughout. Maria, who runs the morning breakfast service, deserves a special thank you. Her care made a big difference to our stay, and I look forward to coming back.

Our room had fleas. We were there only five minutes and already covered in bites, so we refused the alternative room they offered and left right away. This was a serious health and safety problem. The hotel's response was just as upsetting. They offered no meaningful compensation, not even Marriott points, and communication was terrible. Despite several attempts, the manager never returned our calls. It showed no responsibility or concern for guests. The whole experience was unsafe, disgusting, and badly mishandled. I'd strongly advise people to avoid this hotel.
