My sister-in-law and I had a shockingly bad stay. The manager on duty never came to speak with us after we asked, and though we were given his business card, my detailed message got no return call. If someone had listened to how unhappy we were, I wouldn’t have felt I needed to post this for future travelers. We had to request three rooms. In the first, the door safety device was broken and the toilet seat wasn’t secured. The fourth-floor room, 411, smelled strongly of cat pee, and the odor was even worse as soon as we opened the door. The third room had a large red carpet stain and a torn, stained desk chair. I asked front desk staff to check that the stain was dry and not fresh because I didn’t want to lose my deposit. I’m 60 and have never had to ask for even a second room change before. We had picked this hotel for its hot tub, but it stripped the color from my $180 swimsuit and left it looking tie-dyed.
The breakfast was fresh and had plenty of food, and the staff were friendly and efficient. My room at Sleep Inn & Suites Bricktown was clean, quiet, and comfortable. It’s close to Bricktown and downtown, but the spot still feels peaceful. I had a great stay and would definitely return.
The key cards were the biggest problem during my roughly 50 hours at Sleep Inn & Suites. They stopped working six different times, so staff had to reprogram them repeatedly. Around 11 PM one time, I was locked out for nearly half an hour. Nobody was at the front desk, just a sign saying, “sorry we are not here right now.” Later, staff blamed my tap-to-pay card, which makes no sense and has never happened to me before. Room 422 was in obvious disrepair: gouges in the drywall, a shower handle broken with bolts missing, a toilet seat that wouldn’t stay up, a splintered bathroom door, and torn carpet with exposed padding where the carpet met the tile. The shower pressure was almost nonexistent, while the sink pressure was extremely strong. The elevators also had missing handles and bolts, which felt like a serious safety concern. On checkout morning, housekeeping knocked at 8 AM while I was asleep, waited outside, then walked in as soon as I opened the door. That was awkward and unprofessional. Most of the front desk staff were unfriendly, though I did get a sincere apology at checkout. From start to finish it was a terrible stay, and I’ve never said this about a hotel before, but I’d never recommend this location.
The room had just been renovated, but service was slow and there weren’t many staff around. Breakfast was low quality and mostly unhealthy. The location was poor, with only an industrial cement company nearby, and it made noise at night. A woman who seemed to be struggling with drug addiction hung around outside during the day. I didn’t notice any security issue with my car. I stayed one night, which was more than enough.
We left the room because it was gross and smelled like mildew. The sheets had what looked like pee stains, and I couldn't tell if they were just stained or hadn't been changed. The sink was partly coming off the wall. We had booked a king bed two weeks ahead, but they were out of king rooms and gave us two queens instead. Room 424 also had clear signs of an attempted break-in and a bullet hole in the door, hidden by a second peephole around crotch height. The elevator smelled like cigarettes. I don't recommend it, and we probably won't get a refund.
