We had a wonderful stay here for our 10th anniversary. Visiting in the off-season meant the hotel was quiet and private, and the rates were very affordable. The place itself is lovely, with comfortable rooms, and there are a few popular local watering holes within walking distance that serve delicious food. Our host was attentive and friendly enough to give me her cell number. She also pointed us toward several local spots that were still open while other places were closed for the season. We spent time outside by the fire pits and played bags in the crisp fall weather. The hotel is adorable, and I’d highly recommend it for a peaceful, cozy getaway.
We’re vendors at the fair and this was our third year staying here. It’s definitely rustic, but works well for what we need and the price is right. This year’s room has a king bed at the back that seems to slope, putting a lot of pressure on my spine. The floor around it feels rounded or lumpy too. Even so, we’re usually happy here.
You don’t find motels like this very often. It’s really nice, very clean, and well kept throughout, and the price is reasonable for the area. There are lots of distinctive little details that make it clear the owner cares, from the cool lights above the doors to the neat old-fashioned telephones. I’m very impressed.
There was plenty for the family to enjoy here. My kids loved taking us around in the bicycle cart things, and we all enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. The waffles were a must every morning. The pool and the central lawn with grills were great too. Our room with two queen beds and a full or twin was good value for our family. I’m not sure the larger rooms will still fit our budget as our family grows, though.
The vintage decor and Block Party made this a fun place to unwind after seeing the Okoboji sites. We booked a last-minute Labor Day weekend trip, and I’m grateful to the staff and owners for putting it together. There was live music outside, plus unique food and drinks from the staff and owner. My only regret is that I wasn’t ready for the evening mosquitoes!
