I chose this hotel because it was close to my job, and after my car broke down, taking an Uber from there was cheaper. My stay with the staff was awful, though, and I’ll never come back. When I checked in, the heat in my unit wasn’t working. I called the office, and two men came up, dressed in jeans, hoodies, and baseball caps. I didn’t even realize they worked at the hotel. Neither could fix the heat, so they offered to move me to a room across the hall. I was nauseous and weak and could barely stand, let alone pack. They told me to leave my things where they were and use both rooms while they went downstairs for a key. My daughter called down to explain that I couldn’t move across the hall, but it was left at that. I also had a gift card and wanted to extend my stay. They told me not to worry that night and to come down the next morning. In the morning, the front desk man again said I could stay that day and talk with the evening staff member about using the card. That evening, around 9 or so, he called for the gift card details. I said I had a 15% discount and had been told not to worry about that day. He said he didn’t know about it, so we agreed I’d speak to someone in the morning. The next morning, the two men who’d tried to fix the heat came to my room demanding payment. They said they’d call the police to have me thrown out if I didn’t give them the gift card information. My daughter was scared and traumatized by the man raising his voice. I was confused because I’d been trying to pay, but the night before they couldn’t use my card and had told me not to worry. I asked if the manager was there, and they said yes. I told them I’d come down shortly, though I was still unwell and it took a lot out of me to get downstairs. At the office, I heard them talking about me. The manager said they should have called the police if I wasn’t trying to pay. I rang the bell and leaned over the desk to stay upright, but nobody came out right away, so I sat down. When the manager came out, she asked what I was doing there and why people kept letting me book, saying she’d told them I wasn’t supposed to be there. I’d never stayed at a Best Western before and had no idea what she meant. I explained again that I had a gift card and had been told I could stay and use it to extend for 3 days. She asked the man, who said he hadn’t told me that, only that the evening employee could help with the card. She said I had to pay or they’d call the police. They were so rude and nasty to me, and the way they treated my daughter was ridiculous. The manager thought I was another black lady she had trespassed from the facility before. By then I knew I wouldn’t extend my stay. I could go on, but I’ll stop here.

The room was clean and quiet, even with construction going on. The upgrades already make the place pretty nice, and when the work is finished it should be a great place to stay. Getting to the interstate is easy, and the breakfast selection was nice.

Checking out took extra time because I had to complain and wait for the refund process. Nobody on staff apologized, and I was really unhappy with the customer service and the way I was charged without being told. We had booked one night in room 305 last Sunday. After a tiring trip, we spent about 20 minutes waiting for the night staff member to give me a key. He seemed unsure what he was doing and said he was trying to change my room type because ours wasn’t available. That made no sense to me since I already had a reservation through the official Best Western site. The next night I discovered I’d been charged more than my reservation amount. The man hadn’t said there would be an extra charge, and I felt he had lied about why check-in took so long. I figured he’d been looking for other codes on his computer to add money without telling me. He was dishonest and misleading.

Switching rooms was easy thanks to the front desk clerk. He took care of it quickly and patiently, then kept checking during my stay to see if I was comfortable. He was always kind and professional when he greeted me. His glasses and warm smile made him easy to recognize, and those little gestures made the stay much more pleasant.

My husband and I had booked a free night here with points. We were about 15 minutes away when we were in a horrific car crash, and called from the hospital while we were being admitted. The hotel refused to return the points. I left a bad review right away. A few days later, the owner called, said she was disappointed by it, and offered to return our points if we took the review down. We did. She said it would take a few days, but of the 20,000 points we spent, she returned only 500. We lost everything in the crash, including a brand new car. I have 8 broken ribs and a mangled arm, and my husband has 3 broken ribs and a busted up face. We have no transportation to doctors and can’t work. We’re DIAMOND members, and I’m shocked by how little humanity and honesty this location showed. We will never use BEST WESTERN again.
