The beds were really comfortable, and the hotel is lovely, right in downtown with restaurants an easy walk away. Holiday Valley is about 30 minutes away, too. The rooms look just like the photos and are gorgeous and clean, though the bathrooms feel more dated. We enjoyed our stay a lot. The one problem was music from the library next door. There was none the first night, but it played day and night after that and made the second night hard to sleep through. I don't know if it was just a Christmas thing or happens regularly. I hope the neighbour will be more considerate.

We spent three lovely nights in the Dickens Suite at Old Library Inn. The rooms, each styled around an author, made for a one of a kind stay. The place has a tasteful historic feel, the food was amazing, and the staff were top class.

Lois makes an amazing breakfast, and each room has its own warm feel thanks to the careful decorating. The new owners have put real heart into the place. Old Library Inn in Olean, NY is a beautiful, charming bed and breakfast, with magnificent original ornate woodwork throughout. There's lots to enjoy, from the spacious front porch to the decorated parlor with its fireplace and TV.

The restaurant gets an 8 out of 10 from me for a small town like Olean, NY, based on the beef and barrel restaurant as well. The old library has great staff and above average scenery around it. Prices are wage based, and as long as customers tip as they should, I'm sure the staff and public will keep enjoying the old library restaurant.

The dining room staff can handle special diets like gluten free, and the hosts made us feel welcome. My husband and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary at the Old Library Inn in the lovely Tolkien Room. As avid readers, we loved the author themed rooms and literary quotes on the walls. The historic building is beautifully decorated and well maintained, with a charming dining room and sitting room on the first floor. Our room felt private and comfortable. Next door, we also ate at the Old Library Restaurant, a former library turned into an Art Deco style restaurant and bar. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend!
