Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Memphis Olive Branch

The room was huge, the hotel was well maintained, and the shower had strong pressure with steady temperature. I’m a Marriott fan, but don’t mind which sub-brand I book as long as it’s near where I need to be. This Fairfield was a very pleasant surprise. Breakfast was the usual sort of spread for a “suite” hotel: a couple or three hot items, packaged pastries, waffles, cereal and oatmeal. The pet charge during our stay was $50, matching my booking confirmation. When I called to check that our dog was allowed, I was told it might have gone up to $75. There’s also a lobby sign saying “No Pets Allowed,” even though the hotel does accept pets for a fee. One other thing: there was dried ketchup over much of the nightstand. I cleaned it off with a bathroom washcloth.

We were there for a funeral, and the staff made us feel like we were at home. Ms. Patsy did breakfast Friday and Saturday, and it was the best hotel breakfast zi had. She went around greeting people and checking if anybody needed anything. Loved her, and I hope she’s there when we come back. They need Ms. Patsy at every hotel. The young woman at the front desk greeted us at the door with a big smile. We didn’t meet a single employee who seemed like they didn’t want to be there. Even the housekeeprs were friendly and very helpful.

I arrived at 8:15PM after traveling all day, and was told the hotel had oversold and there was no room for me, despite my reservation. The nice woman at the desk canceled it so I wouldn’t be charged a cancellation fee. This is why I choose Hiltons and IHGs.

We didn’t feel like valued Bon Voy members when my husband asked for extra washcloths. I always use more and have requested extras on my profile, but he was told guests steal them and he’d have to bring the dirty ones down to exchange. Everyone also has to leave a credit card for incidentals. Management needs to come up with a better way.
