The View Campground

The view was the reason I came, and it was spectacular. I've never seen anything like it, and for me it was worth the price. I stayed in an RV van and had a friendly, helpful welcome at the counter. The basic bathrooms and showers were clean and heated, which was welcome on chilly nights. It's more rustic than the other RV camps I've visited, with no hookups. That was fine for me since I had solar power and brought water, but people who don't know ahead of time might be surprised. It would have been a five-star stay otherwise.

Spectacular views and great hiking, so it's a good stop for one night. The bathrooms are nice, but the camping area is a busy, wide gravel strip, with narrow spots close together in a single row. The road is uneven and bumpy.

That seventeen mile tour was just amazing, and the view was spectacular. Those were the bright spots in a stay that felt overpriced for a campground without shade or water. We were told no propane or open flames, so we wondered how we'd cook the dinner we'd planned. After seeing people use propane stoves, we used our butane stove with its closed flame the next night. The clean bathrooms could use some improvements: there was no soap and nowhere for toiletries except the floor. Parking instructions were unclear too. One night, people parked facing the opposite direction from what the desk staff had told us, and we woke to someone parked in the middle of the camping road. They weren't asked to leave. Security drove around all night, but there didn't seem to be a speed limit, and people from the cabins seemed to think driving 30 through the campground was okay. Despite all that, the view and experience may have been worth what we paid.

You really can't beat the views, but the rest of the experience was strange. The check-in clerk was rude and didn't explain things. There seemed to be very few restrooms, and we weren't given the codes for the proper ones, only for the ones in the shower room. Those were crowded, humid, and smelled awful.
