Quality Inn Ontario Airport Convention Center

Christine was rude at the front lobby and gave me attitude for no reason. As I was leaving, she acted like nobody could hear her badmouthing me. I understand what customer service is like, and I was taught not to be rude to customers. I rarely leave reviews, but her attitude made me write one.

There isn't much to do near the hotel, so you'd need to drive toward LA or Riverside. Still, it wasn't a bad motel at all, and I'd choose it over the Motel 6 down the street without hesitation. It was the cleanest and best motel I've stayed in.

The bathroom lights kept going out and coming back on while I showered, which was annoying but tolerable. What wasn't tolerable was the tub that wouldn't drain. Thirty minutes after I got dressed, the water was still shin deep. That should have been noticed before I arrived. The room also smelled like the stalest, most unpleasant hotel room I'd experienced in years of frequent travel. A chair looked as though it hadn't been cleaned since the Nixon Administration, the room was barebones and much less flattering than the booking photos, and the bed wasn't inviting. I also heard noise from upstairs and people passing my window. I'm on the spectrum and noise seriously bothers me, so before arriving I asked for a room with few neighbors, if one was available. It was a Wednesday in October, and the partly vacant building made that possible. I arrived just before 2 PM. The desk clerk was a trainee, friendly under her manager's watch, and I was pleased with her. Then I went to the room. I tried the AC and took a needed shower, hoping I'd like it better afterward. I found a much nicer hotel within walking distance online, Doubletree, which I definitely recommend. I booked it, then went to the office to ask if I could leave by paying a day-use rate, since the bed was untouched and all I'd done was shower. I told a small white lie because I knew I was dealing with the trainee and didn't want to cause her trouble. A different clerk had joined her, and the manager was in the back. I politely said I'd been called away and asked for a reduced day rate instead of a full night, mentioning that I'd taken a shower. The other clerk said she'd ask the manager and left. While she was gone, the trainee asked whether the room was quiet, knowing I'd requested no neighbors. I said it was quiet enough, though there had been some stomping upstairs. After a pause, I meekly mentioned, for the hotel's information, that the tub still hadn't drained. The clerk returned and said I had to pay the full night because the room had been used. I didn't argue. I just said, "Okay, thank you," and left. If I'd yelled about everything and dragged the manager to the room to show him, I have no doubt I would've gotten a day rate, if not a full refund. A lousy lesson for the kids: rip into hotel management. The stay started well enough, but it reminded me that being nice doesn't pay.

The staff were friendly, and the service was amazing. I also appreciated having coffee, hot water, and regular water at the main entrance. Breakfast was really good, the location worked well, and parking was close to the room.
