Quality Inn near Blue Spring

We found bugs crawling around the room the next morning, and there were stains on the bedding and dirt all over the floor. We slept with our own sheets laid over theirs. I wiped up some water from the floor and the towel came away filthy. I told the person at the checkout desk as we left and got a “sorry about that.” Terrible place to stay. Find somewhere else.

I paid for a clean, safe room, but Room 108 had heavy grime and hardened dirt under the bed and frame, spider webs, and insects throughout. This looked like long-term neglect, not a room that just needed a quick clean. Within hours, I had a serious allergic reaction and needed my asthma inhaler. After I reported it, they moved me to another room in equally poor condition. The next morning I asked the manager for a refund. I was met with hostility, told there would be no refund, and told I had to pay an additional “early check-in fee” to get a room that met basic health standards. Police were called because I raised these safety concerns, and I was made to leave without time to find other accommodation. I felt I was being evicted for reporting the conditions. Choice Hotels corporate offered 13,000 loyalty points instead of a refund, saying they couldn't process refunds for franchised properties. That structure seems designed to avoid accountability when a property acts fraudulently. I have photos and videos from both rooms, and I'm filing complaints with the Volusia County Health Department and the Florida Attorney General's Office. I've also filed formal complaints with those offices and am disputing the charges with my credit card company for services not provided. I'm a longtime Choice Hotels member and have never experienced anything like this. The health problems, management's response, being forced out, and corporate's indifference were a complete failure at every level. If you have allergies or breathing problems, I believe this property is dangerous. Don't assume the rooms meet basic sanitation standards, and don't expect a refund or help from corporate if you raise a concern. The place should stop taking guests until it's fully cleaned and management learns to treat customers with basic dignity and respect. Stay somewhere else. Your health and safety aren't worth the risk.

The rooms are clean, with proper bright bulbs in the lamps, and I'd stay here again when I'm in the area. The property had a fairly recent upgrade, leaving most rooms accessible for people with disabilities, which isn't what I'd booked. At check-in, the front counter staff went to great lengths to find the room I had reserved. They had to search the hotel to see what was available, apparently because housekeeping hadn't left the turnover sheets showing which rooms were ready.

Google and the website said pets were allowed, so I booked a room planning to bring my cat. Then I get to the office and they tell me no cats. Excuse me? Cats are pets. Horrible.
