Hotel Fera Anaheim, a DoubleTree by Hilton

I stayed for two nights, and the room hadn't been cleaned. There was hair and dirt in the bathroom, the toilet cover had been glued back together after a previous break, and the ceiling showed signs of water damage. I was charged twice for the reservation, though the staff were polite while handling the refund. Sergio in valet was the nicest staff member. I also ordered a burger and fries through room service, then woke up with excruciating pain, vomiting, and diarrhea for 12 hours. Food poisoning for $23, lucky me.

The staff brushed us off when we ran out of towels, toilet paper, and tissues, saying they were understaffed. Rooms are only cleaned on request, and although ours was supposedly renovated, it was old and dirty. I had to clean as soon as I arrived. There was dust everywhere, mold and rust in the bathrooms, and gross stains on the furniture and carpets. The pillows smelled like musk and sweat and had no filling or support. The beds were horribly uncomfortable, and one of the double beds wasn't level, so I kept nearly rolling off it. I feel so grossed out that I can't wait to get home, shower, and disinfect everything. This place was horrible in every way. I can't understand how it's a Hilton. Please save your family, coworkers, and staff from this hotel. Run.

The hotel and the staff inside were amazing during our Friday through Monday stay. But valet returned my car with a flat tire on Friday night as I was heading to dinner. When we brought it up, they seemed to try to make my husband and me think it was our fault. A supervisor was supposed to speak with us, but whenever we went looking, he wasn't there. I wish they'd dealt with it while we were staying there instead of brushing us off. Hopefully they'll contact us.

Parking was a mess. The gate was broken when we arrived at 8 pm, though someone came over to let us in and we found a spot. My sister arrived at 10 pm, but there was nowhere for her to park and apparently no valet either. She'd prepaid for parking and ended up driving back to LA. It's ridiculous to sell parking when there aren't enough spaces for the guests. The noise made sleep nearly impossible too. I was trying to sleep on the 16th floor, but regular street noise and sirens from the hospital next door were constant. The clean room was about the only reason this gets two stars. The bed was extra hard, and the scratchy sheets made the double sheeting instead of a duvet cover feel like another letdown for a 4 star hotel. I wish this clean room were anywhere else so I could sleep in peace. It's like sleeping in the middle of a highway.
