Studio 6 Orange, TX

We've been here for almost a year, and I love the hotel so much I don't want to leave. The housekeeping ladies keep our room clean, and Chantel at the front desk has been very helpful. She's easy to talk to whenever we need something for the room, which makes staying here even better.

The room at Studio 6 in Orange, Texas, was basic but clean enough for the price, and I was only there overnight. Still, I'm giving it two stars because the lobby and main entrance smelled awful. It was a heavy, damp, moldy funk with some other strange wet smell, strong enough to hit you as soon as you walked in and cling to your clothes. Checking in felt like an endurance test. I can't tell if it's bad ventilation or water damage, but they need to deal with it quickly. I wouldn't recommend staying unless you're desperate and can hold your breath.

The customer service was incredibly good. Chantel at the front desk was professional and very helpful. The building looks new, but the room felt old and worn out, with cheap flooring that was peeling.

When I woke up, I used the nightstand to steady myself as I stood up, since I'm elderly and disabled. It was poorly attached to the wall and pulled away from the sheet rock. I also nearly fell when the back of the dining chair gave way. I told the front desk lady when we checked out an hour later, and she apologized and said she was glad I hadn't been hurt. She also apologized about the chair. She told me my deposit would go back to my card. A few days later, it still hadn't arrived, so I called. The same woman said the owner had told her not to return it because of the damage. Nobody had called to tell me the decision had changed. I tried to explain that she'd already said the deposit would be refunded, but she kept saying it was the owner's decision, not hers. Not good. I'd give zero stars if I could.
