Econo Lodge Orlando Airport

The room was nice and clean, and I’d stay here again as long as I could get a main-floor room. There’s no elevator, so I had to carry all my cruise luggage up the stairs to a second-floor room, which was too much for me. The next day, when I went to catch the shuttle, they sent me to another motel to get it.

The housekeepers and maintenance guy were nice, and the hotel has a big parking lot, a free airport shuttle, and a McDonald's next door. But the rooms and bathrooms smelled really bad, and the hotel badly needs renovations. It might be okay for one night if you’re a backpacker without kids and can put up with the mess. I’m not sure it should even count as a two-star hotel, maybe more like a motel. We paid for three nights, but after the first night they checked us out without our consent and offered a different room with only one bed. My credit card was charged around four times, and some charges are still on hold. Worst experience ever. Stay away from this place. Most of the pictures online belong to another hotel.

The room had plenty of space, was clean and well cared for, and the bed was comfortable. I appreciated having bottled shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. The property shares its pool and jacuzzi with the Clarion Hotel. Breakfast was pretty limited, mostly coffee, juice, and cold bagels and buns that had been frozen.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and I felt safe. Still, the property looked worn down: there was standing water from the room AC units, rust on the handrails, and missing patches of paint on the walls. We were here because of an airline problem, but I wouldn't pick it again until more renovation work is done, unless there were no better options. It seemed like the place might be too large for the current management to keep up with. Maybe they could work on one section at a time.
