La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Orlando Airport

The room was clean, though dated, especially the bathroom, and its door didn't lock. There weren't USB outlets in the room, only in the lobby. Breakfast was the usual waffles, cereal, eggs, and sausage. If you're headed on a cruise that day, going early helps avoid lines. The pool was open, but the water was too cold for swimming. The airport shuttle details were clear, and it comes hourly. Our friendly driver made the roughly five-minute trip. Check-in was smooth, too, and the person at the desk was cordial. I appreciated the smile. We had a good stay and would come back.

Shavon at reception was kind and understanding, and the one bright spot in our stay. We were charged for parking, but there were no spaces available any of the three days. Guests were left parking on the street, which didn't feel practical, fair, or safe. Room service also barged in without knocking or checking whether we'd checked out. We hadn't.

Marco, our shuttle driver, made the trip from the airport enjoyable with a friendly, easy conversation. The staff won me over. The hotel was clean, the rooms spacious, and breakfast was delicious. The bathroom looked a little dated but was still nice. Lots of food spots are nearby, and I recommend Rock and Brew for dinner if you like live music.

The room had beat-up furniture, a bathroom door that wouldn't lock and took my full weight to open, a leaking shower faucet with a handle that fell off, and a curtain that slid down the rod. The toilet pump squealed when flushed. The pool was crumbling, with chunks of concrete underfoot, and the hot tub was covered in plywood. The place didn't feel clean, and I wouldn't recommend it. Check-in itself was fine, but the first elevator was out, so we had to walk to the far end of the hall for the other one. That door was ancient and badly needed attention. The ride to the fourth floor felt like a thrill ride. It really was a string of problems.
