Traders Inn Beach Club

With three little kids, the beach and pool were exactly what I wanted, and this place really impressed us. The kitchen and utensils were handy, and the room was perfectly adequate for what I paid. Rates shift a lot with demand, as they do at nearby places. The staff were welcoming and followed the rules, which I understood and didn't mind. When I asked about a swim after checkout, I was told late checkout would cost $45. It was 65 degrees, and I figured my young kids might manage an hour and a half at most. We were allowed to swim until the 10 a.m. checkout, so we got about 40 minutes in. I'd stay here again without hesitation.

The room was okay, though clearly dated, and the weekend rate we got was a good deal. Still, the quote for next year was $400 higher. We booked through Expedia for Daytona 500 weekend because we wanted to be near Daytona International Speedway. Early check-in was offered for $20, which I paid. The lot was only half full when we arrived and stayed that way all weekend, so the fee felt unnecessary. There was just one TV, in the living room, and no dishwasher. We had to wash the dishes before leaving. The shower kept swinging from hot to cold, sometimes going extremely cold and then very hot when we adjusted it. The toilet also needed attention more than once. We had to remove the tank lid and tap the fill valve to get it to refill. At checkout, the front desk asked for the plastic parking pass hanger. We'd already packed the van, so we had to dig through it to find it. If I hadn't returned it, there would've been a $40 charge. This hotel needs a serious remodel and a lot of freshening up.

It has an old Floridian feel, and we really enjoyed our stay. The suite's kitchenette was stocked well and the promised ocean view was lovely. The older complex is kept up nicely, and the pool and grounds were spotless. Check-in was simple, the staff were friendly, and we could walk to Publix and nearby restaurants. Highly recommend.

We celebrated our daughter's birthday here, and the front office staff were so warm and accommodating. The room was fresh and very clean, and the pool was the cleanest we've ever come across after staying at plenty of hotels, condos, and resorts. We'll definitely be back.
