Helgeson Place Hotel & Suites

Our guide Mike Hamilton suggested the Helgeson when we came to fish the Clearwater, and we really liked this unusual old school building with its modern updates. The rooms are nice. We had a single queen, and the kitchen was apartment-like, with a full-size fridge, a nice oven, and our favorite kind of regular drip coffee maker. Breakfast was really good too, with eggs, sausage, bacon, bagels, yogurt, cereal, milk, OJ, and other juice. There are local businesses in the building for makeup, nails, tanning, and other salon services, which is handy if one person wants to fish and the other would rather stay and get a service. Shops and restaurants are close enough to walk to. Definitely recommend staying here, check it out!

I was glad that staying in a historic building and supporting a local business didn't mean giving up a good stay. The Helgeson cost less than the chain hotel in town, Best Western, and I'd happily come back. The rooms were bigger and more comfortable than I expected, though the furnishings looked a little dated. The bed and pillows were comfortable to sleep on, and seemed good quality. There was a full kitchen in the room, which was impressive even though we didn't use it. Breakfast included plenty of eggs, sausage, and the other usual options you'd see at a chain hotel. There isn't a fitness center.

That Old Style New York Elevator was our favorite part 😄 The room was really spacious and CLEAN, too. Most unique hotel I've stayed in. I'd come back in a heartbeat!

We chose this place easily for our fishing vacation: it's centrally located, with shops and places to eat within walking distance, and the staff are friendly. My stay at the Helgeson Place Hotel was very comfortable, and the beds deserve credit. They're the best I've slept in at any hotel over the past few years.
