Comfort Suites Oshkosh West

Our stay was very disappointing, and there was also a stabbing in the parking lot the morning after our first night. Police and emergency personnel were there all day, which made the location feel very uncomfortable. The trouble started at check-in, when staff tried to make my son pay because they couldn’t find the payment in their system. I called to sort it out, but the man who answered was rude and kept interrupting while I asked for Expedia’s contact details. He only repeated that it wasn’t paid and wasn’t in their system. When I said my son had the receipt, booking confirmation, and proof the money came out of his account, he kept saying “No, no, no” over me. We called the booking site, and it took almost an hour for the hotel to find the payment confirmation in another section of its system. Expedia said no one at the hotel office had answered for 20 minutes. Thankfully, another worker eventually came out and figured it out. It was upsetting that nobody would look more carefully at all the proof my son showed them. There was a large red and blue stain on the floor by the heater, plus red smudges on the wall near the entrance to the coach area. Our keys only worked for one night. Staff blamed keeping them by a phone, but we had them in a pouch, separate from anything that could cause magnetic interference. We exchanged only one key because they were so rude about it. We booked because the website said there was a hot tub, but there wasn’t one. The only option was to pay another $50 for a room upgrade with a whirlpool. My friend paid for that room, but its jets didn’t work, so it was basically a big bathtub. The pool smelled like dirty, untreated water, and the water was slightly brown. There were no towels, and the pool area didn’t look sanitized. For a public pool with a children’s area, I expected much better upkeep. Nobody in our group of more than 30 used it. Please remove the hot tub and whirlpool upgrade information from the site and take better care of the facility. I paid more than I should have for this underwhelming experience.

The rooms were updated and super clean, and breakfast was great. The breakfast attendant was fantastic despite the crowd. Very friendly staff, tremendous value, and a wonderful stay. I’d give six stars if I could.

The place smells so pleasant as soon as you walk in. Everything was very clean, the staff were polite, and breakfast was great. The rooms are large and updated, with photos on the wall from different parts of the state. I’ll definitely stay again next time I’m in town for a dog show.

The location was really convenient for our trip through the area, and we had a nice stay. Staff were very kind and the room was clean. The beds could use an update, though they weren’t uncomfortable. We went down later for breakfast, so the eggs and potatoes had been sitting out for a while. The pool itself was very dirty, even though the surrounding area was clean. That’s the only reason I gave four stars.
