Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ottawa by IHG

Deanne at the front desk was such a sweetheart. I never have a bad interaction with her, and the room itself was very nice. I was there two weeks for work. Breakfast was poor, though. The cinnamon rolls were the only thing that didn’t seem off, and I’m pretty sure there was mold on the oatmeal one of my last days. I stopped eating breakfast after that. After I’d been there a week, I asked the evening receptionist to let housekeeping know I needed a full room service. He said he didn’t know how and told me to ask someone in the morning. Later I went down for cups and saw him at a table with his laptop and gaming gear spread out, playing an online game and chatting with a friend in it. That was really unprofessional.

The breakfast buffet was excellent, and the hotel is in a very convenient spot, just a quick hop on or off the main expressway. There are convenience stores and restaurants nearby, too. Our room was spacious, maybe more than it needed to be, and the bathroom was nice with good water pressure. The TV was smaller than at other similar hotels.

The rooms and beds were clean and comfortable, and everyone in our group seemed to have the same positive impression. The front desk staff were consistently friendly, professional, and helpful. The breakfast attendant was just as friendly and kept checking that the food was fresh and the area was clean. This is one of the best managed HIEs I’ve stayed at. I don’t usually travel to this area, but I’d gladly stay again or recommend it. Kudos to the whole team!

We’ve been staying at Holiday Inn Express - Ottawa, IL for business a few times a year for the past couple of years. We tried cheaper nearby places, but learned pretty quickly that you get what you pay for. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and there are several room arrangements. Everyone from the front desk clerk to the support staff is friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is my one gripe. The choices never change, and often they’ve run out of a key item. Some scrambled eggs, bacon, or biscuits with sausage gravy would be a nice change. At least there’s a nice family restaurant across the street with a very diverse menu.
